Bloodlines

I am the Cuban and I am the Irish in me.
I feel the African as well as the European.
I am the Mexican and I am the American.
I'm the Egyptians and the Jews that they chased.
I feel the pagan and the Christian, the Russian and the Caribbean, the rainy and the sunny, the cold and the hot temperaments alike.
I feel an insider as much as I feel an outsider, the oppressor as much as the oppressed, and in opposition to both I feel beyond that divide.

If Harry Potter taught me something, it was the great power that lies in mixed blood. And I feel it.
These identities are married in my flesh and in my hair and face.
In my form and in my shape and movement.
In my imagination.
In my memory.
